Questions About Juicing For Weight Loss

George asks…

How do I lose weight without eating anything?

I need a temporary weight loss to lose a couple pounds. I’ve been on a juice detox and I’ve been working out 1 hour a day for the past week. I’ve managed to lose about 4 pounds, but I need a quicker fix. How do I lose weight on just water and Juice?? Like how much should I drink a day and when?

Scott answers:

I hope you’re not suggesting to diet by starving yourself at first I thought maybe you mean by not going on one of those over used TV buzzing diets. But a resource I have is from a nutritionist so you can start there and see if it is what your looking for.

It’s free no signing up or paying or anything like that just so we are clear on that for those haters who like to thumbs down everyone because they add a resource link.

Sandy asks…

If you use a detox/cleansing drink and you do this each month would it help with weight loss and digestions?

If you use a detox/cleansing drink and you do this each month would it help with weight loss and digestion?
&
what are some good detox drinks to take?

Scott answers:

I do a one week master cleanse every 6 months

during master cleanse you only drink maple syrup + lemon juice + cayenne pepper. It is great for detox and weight loss. I feel really fresh everything i do it

William asks…

what would be a good breakfast for weight loss?

I heard that eggs are really good for weight loss, 1 or 2 a day.
I just want to know what a really good breakfast would be. Because I never used to eat breakfast, and I am eating it now, but feeling tired all the time…

suggestions?

Scott answers:

Well i eat oats, put a hadfull in a bowl put some milk in (low fat if you want) pop it in the microwave for 90secs, take out and add some more milk if you like
you can also use water but i’ve ever tried it

they’re really filling so you don’t over eat at lunch or in snacks (even i they’re healthy ones) and yummy with these following toppings

-mixed frozen berries
-grate in an apple
-i had this today, it was seriusly amazing; half a banana, honey and cinnamon yum!

And a glass of water or fresh juice
apparently fruit juice from the shop has as much sugar in it as sodas, so i’m not taking risks

good luck!
If you do try, hope you enjoy :)

Anyone know where to find good health food stores in Singapore?

I need a place to buy organic cocoa butter, oils, and other organic, natural products. So far all the places I have been to that call themselves health food stores are supplement shops (pills and crap). Thanks.

Scott answers:

I am also into organic food.
There are so many stores in Singapore.
I don’t know which area u are at.

So I would suggest NTUC. As there are NTUC everywhere.
I would purchase my rice milk, dry apple snacks, buckwheat or some nuts.(all organic)
at some shops. If am at NTUC, I will buy it there.

There is a shop whereby I got the best Coconut oil and Probiotic juice in Singapore.
The address is at Block 532 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. The shop name is Faith Hope Agape.
It is actually a alternative clinic. The lady helped my mum live another 10 years as my mum
got cancer. They are into homeopathy and chinese medical. I got a lot of good products that helped my asthma too. But the thing is I need to make appointment as they are seldom in opened as
a lot of their customers love home visit. Of cos charge more.

At times I feel lazy to go down,
I will ask for delivery from them too.
Very nice kind lady. Perhaps u can look for them
and next time u don’t need to go shop for your stuffs.
Just call for delivery.
Hee…. Easier for u cos I also don’t like people to
introduce me tons of pills.

John asks…

Is your body weight and a half in protein really health when your working out?

Health and Fitness Magazines including their ads promote protein, and its obviously a good thing, but if you read medical reports or advice it seems taking that much protein is bad for you and could affect your liver because of the chemical breakdown in your liver and keytones…etc..

Starting to think of moving away from protein supplements and just maybe using some creatine or something?

Any doctors out there or some solid facts on that?

Scott answers:

U need to be very careful about ur diet when u r working hard on gym or ground.
U need to take lots af water juice fruits along with ur protein supplement

Questions About Juicing For Weight Loss

William asks…

How do I kick start my weight loss?

Hi Guys, I know that diet and exercise are the best way, and I do exercise regularly, normally 2 – 3 times a week. But I’ve just got back from holiday and got into some bad eating habits. I’m just looking for something natural to use alongside diet and exercise to give me a bit of a kick start with the weight loss! Im looking to lose about 14lb altogether. Thank you!!

Scott answers:

There are many ways. First of all you can cut out your eating habits especially try to avoid food that contains high in calories such as meat . But sometimes you can also risk your own health , so be careful . But there are also many ways you can lose your weight if you really know the tips and tricks.

Here are a few tips to get you started

1. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

2. If you do have a craving for fruit juice then go for fresh fruit juice instead of these that contain artificial flavors and colors. Or even better, try making your own fruit juice taking care not to sweeten it with too many calories.

3. Choose fresh fruit to processed fruits. Processed and canned fruits do not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruits are nearly always sweetened.

4. Increase your fiber intake. Like I mentioned, the body needs a lot of fiber. So try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

5. Go crazy on vegetables. Vegetables are your best bet when it comes to losing pounds. Nature has a terrific spread when it comes to choosing vegetables. And the leafy green vegetables are your best bet. Try to include a salad in you diet always.

6. Eat intelligently. The difference between man and beast is that we are driven by intelligence while beasts are driven by instinct. Don’t just eat something because you feel like eating it. Ask you’re self whether your body really needs it.

7. Watch what you eat. Keep a watchful eye on every thing that goes in. Sometimes the garnishes can richer than the food itself. Accompaniments too can be very rich. Remember that it is the easiest thing in the world to eat something without realizing that it was something that you should not have eaten.

8. Control that sweet tooth. Remember that sweet things generally mean more calories. It is natural that we have cravings for sweet things especially chocolates and other confectionery. Take this weight loss tips seriously and go easy on theses things and each time you consume something sweet understand that it is going to add on somewhere.

9. Fix times to have meals and stick to it. Try to have food at fixed times of the day. You can stretch these times by half an hour, but anything more than that is going to affect your eating pattern, the result will either be a loss of appetite or that famished feeling which will make you stuff yourself with more than what is required the next time you eat.

10. Eat only when you are hungry. Some of us have the tendency to eat whenever we see food. We use parties as an excuse to stuff our selves. Understand that the effect of a whole week of dieting can be wasted by just one day’s party food.

Sandra asks…

What are the best foods to eat for weight loss?

I have read that to lose weight more efficiently, one should eat 5-6 small meals per day instead of 3 big ones. What are the best foods to eat at these small meals to keep me from getting too hungry and promote weight loss?

Scott answers:

Try to eat a balance diet get all the fruits veggies meats dairy and grains you’re suppose to, try to eat lean meats poultry and fish instead of red meat(for instance i use ground turkey instead of ground beef and turkey bacon instead of pork bacon)or at least get lean beef, avoid fast food[fried], grill or bake foods as much as possible instead of frying, eat whole wheat bread instead of regular

snacks:
nuts(try to avoid too much salt), airpopped popcorn is great if u dont or at least watch how much salt and butter you put on it, fruits, veggies, dry cereal(corn flakes, shredded wheats, cherrios),oatmeal, yogurt(watch the sugary ones)rice cakes, salads….if you really need to cheat get baked chips instead of regular, oatmeal[raisin] cookies instead of oreos and chocolate chip, or look for 100 calorie packs they have like oreo flavored baked wafer snacks which is a pretty fair size and taste with only 100cals in the whole bag

drinks:
alot of people get a good bulk of their daily calories from what they drink so avoid sodas, watch sugary fruit drinks and juices, i recommend you drink at least one cup of tea per day(preferably unsweetened). Tea has no calorie(if not sweetened) green tea is better known for its aiding weight lost but if you do not like the taste white tea has a milder taste and snapple has tea bags that are infused with natural fruit flavor(still calorie free) which tastes pretty good, and of course water you pretty much cant go wrong with water very healthy

allow yourself a cheat day every once in a while dont pig out but you can bend your diet a lil(bend not break). Your body will eventually adapt to your new eating habits. I’ll tell you from experience once i started really getting in shape for kickboxing i stopped eating junk food and fast food and im at the point where not only do i not crave it any more but actually eating it makes me feel sick

healthy food is expensive becuz its easier to keep artificial and processed foods longer, while healthier foods go bad faster. Take trans fat for example worse fat you can eat it has no nutritional value but its used becuz it has a much longer shelf-life(though many people are starting to stop using trans fats). Think about what last longer a bag of doritos in the pantry or strawberries in the fridge? What about the urban legend that a twinkie can survive a nuclear blast? Junk foods are easier to manufacture and keep therefore costing less

good luck and i hope you reach your goals in a healthy manner

Ruth asks…

Questions About Juicing For Health

Ruth asks…

How to improve battery health on macbook pro?

I got my macbook pro in December and it just recently went down to a 97% battery health.
I would really like to keep it at 100% for as long as possible because I really want to have this computer for a long long time. How can I improve the battery and keep it healthy?

Also, should I keep it plugged in all the time or only when charging it, or what?

Scott answers:

You wanna treat your battery like a muscle, keep it worked out. The best way to do that is use the battery often but not let it die completely each time you use it. I have had my most recent MacBook pro since december 2011 as well and it still has 100% health. Before that I had a MacBook pro since december 2006 and I had to replace the battery twice because the battery that came with it I kept charged constantly and never took it off the adapter. The next one I went the complete opposite and let it die with each use. The third one I would use on battery power often but not let die past about 50% if I could help it then charge it back up and that’s done the trick for me ever since. Apple says on their site “An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her notebook on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing.” I try to think of it that way.

For further insight read this article from Apple:

Questions About Juicing For Weight Loss

Mark asks…

How long does it take for weight loss to show?

I was just wondering how long it would take for weight loss to show. I am exercising about twice a day… running for about 25-30 minutes and pilates workout (plant, hundreds, etc.). I am also cutting down on the amount of junk food i eat.. so no more chips or chocolate.

Scott answers:

It takes only about a month..and you will start to notice a difference.

Changing your diet to only healthy foods is the best thing you can do and will ensure you will lose weight if combine with walking everyday especially.

You can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.

1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains (Asian basmati or jasmine rice gives lots of energy and can be found at your local oriental/asian market or some super markets), & yogurt..2. Drink only water, juice, & milk..3. Walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer and a rice cooker ((Both Very cheap)) .which, used together make it very easy to prepare very nutritional, healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil , diced garlic, pepper, sliced lemon and spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)

Robert asks…

Is it beneficial to my weight loss if I burn 100 calories before breakfast?

Questions About Juicing Vegetables

Richard asks…

Would like some tips on storing fresh vegetable juice?

So I started vegetable juicing to get back in shape and I noticed cleaning the Juicer is a lot more work than I thought. I want to make a bunch of Juice ahead of time, store it, and be able to drink some through the day at work when I can’t juice and drink it fresh. Heard it’s not the best though since it will lose a lot of the nutrients. What would be the best way to store the juice for only about 12 hours or so? Is there a certain container I should be using or would plastic water bottles suffice if I fill it up all the way so no air is in it?

Scott answers:

Most of the vegetables are not acidic and hence the juice cannot be preserved as it is .What you can do is Transfer the juice into food grade plastic containers(PETT Bottles),seal air tight and keep in the chill tray below the freezer. It will remain fresh for 12 hours.,

Michael asks…

How does lemon juice or vinegar prevent vegetables from losing their colour?

what are properties of edible acids that help retain the colour of vegetables. What is the scientific explanation?

thanks in advance!

Scott answers:

I’m assuming you’re talking about how an apple slice will turn brown if you leave it out in the open for too long. It’s because certain enzymes within the fruit body react to oxygen, and it creates a sort of “rust” on the surface of the apple. If you lower the pH of the fruit, ie. Put lemon juice or vinegar on it, it slows down the reaction because of the different chemical components you’ve introduced, and the apple slice will stop from getting “rusty” for longer.

Laura asks…

What vegetable is best for curing Melanoma?

I have Melanoma on my face and i just bought a juicer. I was wondering which vegetable juice would have the best affect on the cancer. If you know let me know.
Thanks!

Scott answers:

Vegetables don’t cure melanoma. Melanoma is cured by surgical removal of the lesion, and nothing else.

Sharon asks…

What is a university health service fee?

When I was going to my university I remember I had to pay a mandatory university health service fee? Every student has to pay for this, however do most student even use this service? My assumption is that most students don’t use this service, therefore it’s kind of a waste of money. I feel like I must some of their services so I can get my money’s worth even though I don’t really need them. Does anybody know?

Thanks in advance.

Scott answers:

At my school the health service fee is the fee they require students to pay for on campus health care. It’s so we can go to see a doctor on campus when we are sick free of charge. You also get $5 prescriptions and 2 cold packs a year (a cold pack contains Dayquil/nyquil, cough drops, kleenex, orange juice, etc.) I would imagine that it would be used for something similar at your school.

Questions About Juicing Diet

Mary asks…

What is my body type and weight loss advice?

Measurements:
40″ bust
31″ waist
41″ hips

I’m 5’2.5″ and 153 pounds. I’m trying to get down to 125. I need some weight loss advice! I plan on avoiding pork, beef, and junk food, only drinking V8 juice, diet green tea, and water, and exercising 4-5 days a week. How is that for a start? I’m 18 years old also, if that’s a factor in anything.

Scott answers:

You seem to be an hourglass (LUCKY).
1. V8 is too high in sodium; buy a juicer and make your own vegetable juice. Also stay away from anything with “diet” in the name; it will likely have a crapload of additives. Try to drink just water, milk, and NATURAL green tea (as in brew it yourself. None of that Lipton crap).
2. If you mean avoid as in avoid at all costs, you won’t get very far. If you normally eat a lot of junk food, your mind is used to it and it will be extremely difficult to quit cold turkey. Eat 1-2 cheat meals a week to help you stay on track. Other than that, eat a Mediterranean diet. Whole grains (preferably no bread though; I mean whole grains like quinoa, bulgur, spelt, brown rice, raw oats, etc.), seasonal fruits and vegetables (unless it’s frozen then you can eat whatever you like. Avoid canned produce though.), lean meat (venison, fish, seafood, chicken, lamb, and very little red meat), raw seeds and nuts, and low fat dairy (milk, cheese–minimally processed–, and yogurt. Buy plain yogurt and add your own fruit or honey. Yoplait and Dannon won’t help you lose weight; too much added sugar. Fage and Chobani are best.) Limit sugar, corn, and soy.
3. As for exercise, don’t expect to be able to spot reduce. I’m not saying crunches, pushups, squats, etc. Are bad, they’re very good for building muscle, just don’t do only those and expect major results. Add any activity you enjoy. For example if you start to dread exercising, try something new.
This will require time, willpower, and trial and error to figure out exactly what works for you but trust me, if you don’t give up, it will be worth it.

Joseph asks…

Appetite suppressants that have less severe side effects?

Hello :) PLEASE DO NOT SPAM OR POST LINKS TO SCAM PRODUCTS
I’m trying to lose weight. I won’t post my weight on here because I’m not comfortable with giving out that information. I’ve decided that I’m going to start the juicing diet where you pretty much eat nothing but juiced fruits or vegetables. There’s one roadblock though. I’M ADDICTED TO FAST FOOD AND JUNK FOOD. I honestly know ill cheat on this diet if I don’t have a way to get rid of those cravings. I’m looking for an appetite suppressant that won’t raise my heart rate or have anything to do with any of that blood pressure business and any other severe side effects. PLEASE HELP ME :) thank you!

Scott answers:

There are several ways to suppress your appetite naturally. You do
not want to starve yourself as this will tell your body to hold on to
the fat already in your body.

Natural Appetite Suppressants
Pinolenic Acid is a nutrient that reduces your appetite naturally. It
also aids in the digestion of dietary fats helping weight loss. Pine
nuts contain pinolenic acid, a naturally occurring polyunsaturated fat
that actually stimulates two powerful hunger suppressing hormones.
Green Tea extract works by promoting thermogenesis, which increases
the metabolic rate, inhibiting fat digestion, and boosting your
energy. It also increases fat oxidation which helps the body use fat
as an energy source.
Coleus is an herb that promotes the breakdown of fat in the fat cells
and aids in weight loss. Coleus stimulates fat metabolism helping fat
loss when dieting.
Protein takes longer to digest and does not affect your blood sugar
in the way that carbohydrates do which suppresses the appetite by
making you feel fuller longer.
Guarana has a stimulant affect much like caffeine, it helps to boost
energy levels and suppress the appetite.

Foods That Suppress Your Appetite
Water is an easy way to suppress your appetite. If you drink an
8-ounce glass of water when you first start feeling hungry you should
notice that it curbs your appetite. If you just drink a full glass of
water and wait 10 minutes you may see that your appetite is either
completely gone or dramatically reduced.
Green vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, bokchoy, and other leafy
vegetables are very low in calories and they fill your stomach to make
you feel full, turning off the hunger signals in your brain.
Apples are a great appetite suppressing food because the bulky fiber
fills up your stomach and turns off your appetite control hormones
before you overeat.

Chris asks…

Where can I buy “unsweetened” fruit juice?

Hi, I need help finding which part of most grocery stores would I find unsweetened fruit juice? Does anyone know what the difference is between unsweetened fruit juice & diet juice? Thanks for your help! :)
Danie

Scott answers:

Unsweetened juice just has it’s natural sugar, diet prob has some sort of sweetner added. You can find with the fruit, or in the juice aisle. It will usually say no sugar added. I actually bought a juicer, I found it less expensive in the long run & much tastier. You can have fresh juice every day!
